About the role

The Wastewater Program Manager will be responsible for identifying, developing, and servicing deployments of CREW’s CO2 removal (CDR) technology with existing and upcoming wastewater partners. The Wastewater Account Manager will work closely with partners to provide programs tailored to their specific needs, while pursuing CREW’s mission to achieve CDR at scale. This is a full time position, with travel expectations to wastewater partners and conferences across US and Europe. Location is flexible, with proximity preference to our offices in New Haven or Brooklyn.

Responsibilities

  • Assist clients in meeting their needs across various wastewater treatment processes by evaluating multiple equipment options for each project, ensuring the optimal approach for integrating CREW’s technology based on operational and capital expenditures
  • Deliver essential technical, commercial and operational support to ensure that CREW’s existing industrial and municipal national programs meet contractual performance specifications
  • Manage relationships with existing and new wastewater partners to implement CDR technologies
  • Coordinate with external stakeholders to execute on projects, including engineering and construction companies, suppliers & vendors, and partnering organizations
  • Track project progress from pilots and full-scale demonstrations toward commercial agreements
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance on process co-benefits to partner’s operations
  • Work alongside the business development team to identify needs and opportunities to further CDR as a novel resource recovery in wastewater systems
  • Conduct customer meetings and presentations, leading application surveys, crafting proposals, and executing demonstration programs to secure new business opportunities

Requirements

  • Bachelors in chemical, civil, electrical, or environmental, mechanical engineering (or similar field)
  • 7+ years of experience in wastewater treatment
  • Executed projects with municipal and industrial wastewater facilities
  • Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and management skills
  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal) with experience working on cross-functional teams from multiple locations 
  • Experience in identifying, contracting, and managing third parties such as engineering, procurement, and construction firms
  • Must be in good physical ability for travel with valid driver’s license and acceptable motor vehicle record

  • Strong desire to fight climate change

About the role

CREW Carbon is on a mission to removing billions of tons of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. CREW’s technology enhances the natural power of minerals to treat wastewater and store CO2 permanently, all while optimizing pH and alkalinity, improving nutrient removal rates and reducing costs for the municipalities wastewater treatment plant. The Chief of Staff position will act to manage and improve operational and strategic initiatives across CREW Carbon, including but not limited to: team management, operations & project management, partnership oversight & buildout, and corporate development & FP&A. This work is integral to CREW’s strategic objectives and will enable the CEO and executive team to deliver on the key milestones that will drive business success.

Responsibilities

Team management:

  • Support cross-functional teams across operations, strategy, engineering, and sales / business development, establishing and maintaining procedures for hiring and managing office staff
  • Run point on the search process for key hires, including: wastewater engineers, account managers, and science team lab technicians
  • Help organize and run regular, recurring meetings such as all-hands, sales pipeline review, etc.

Operations and project management:

  • Implement and manage project management structures and tools such as sprints, scrums, and standups to ensure the timely and effective completion of key strategic workstreams.
  • Help manage day-to-day operational activities such as executing on the delivery of wastewater treatment plant hardware and feedstock deliveries, and regular monitoring of carbon removal

Partnership oversight and buildout:

  • Provide oversight to existing partnership agreements, communicating across key stakeholders and ensuring effective delivery of contract requirements
  • Support the build of outward-facing materials such as sales decks, memos, and one-pagers to effectively communicate CREW’s mission and progress.

Corporate development and FP&A:

  • Support investor and stakeholder relations, working with the CEO to build systems for investor and stakeholder updates
  • Provide confidential advice on strategic direction and initiatives, including landing and defining partnership structures to help maximize the value and speed up the sales cycle of carbon credits
  • Assist in all aspects of financial planning and analysis, such as: a) running and controlling the operating model, b) planning, forecasting, and budgeting financials, c) oversight of regular performance reporting and cash-flow forecasting, and d) scenario analysis and modeling for specific partnership and client opportunities

Requirements

  • 5+ years of work experience in management consulting, strategy, or similar high-performance environments.
  • Proven project management experience, with a track record of managing complex, cross-functional projects from planning through execution, ensuring delivery on time and within budget.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to break down complex challenges and develop actionable solutions.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, able to collaborate effectively with different teams and stakeholders across all levels.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment, where adaptability, creativity, and execution are key.
  • Passion for climate change mitigation and a desire to make an impact in the climate-tech space.

Compensation

$95,000-140,000 with equity option, plus competitive company benefits such as relocation bonus, health insurance, paid time off, and others.

Project Engineer

About the role

The Project Engineer will ensure proper execution and operation of CREW’s technology deployments to achieve CO2 removal (CDR) with our wastewater partners. In this role, you will assess the deployment viability with wastewater facilities through engineering design, data analysis, and interactions with wastewater partners, suppliers/vendors, and engineering services firms. This position is a full-time role, with travel expectations to wastewater partners across US and Europe. Location is flexible, with proximity preference to our offices in New Haven or Brooklyn.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, installation, deployment, and operation of CREW technology for field deployments
  • Coordinate with external stakeholders to execute on projects, including engineering and construction companies, suppliers & vendors, and partnering organizations
  • Prepare proposals including scope of work, cost estimates, schedules, presentations, and other related engineering project documentation
  • Maintain project schedule to ensure consistent progress toward carbon removal milestones
  • Conduct and manage fieldwork associated with design and construction services
  • Servicing of deployments with CREW science team and contractors which includes but is not limited to: water quality testing, calibration and repair of materials handling and dosing equipment, visual inspections of systems, new installs, etc.

Requirements

  • Bachelors in chemical, civil, electrical, or environmental, mechanical engineering (or similar field)
  • 5+ years of experience in wastewater treatment
  • Strong writing, project management, and communication skills
  • Proficiency in CAD software for engineering or product design (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Fusion, etc)
  • Experience with design, procurement, and construction of solid materials handling and dosing systems
  • Experience overseeing subcontractors and ensuring they deliver on project requirements
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable motor vehicle record

As a Senior Modeler, you will play a crucial role in developing and applying dynamic and mechanistic biogeochemical models to predict weathering rates and track the fate of weathering products in river and ocean systems. Your work will help advance CREW Carbon’s innovative technology and support our mission of large-scale carbon dioxide removal.

Responsibilities

Biogeochemical modeling:

  • Develop and implement dynamic and mechanistic biogeochemical models using Python, R, MATLAB, and other coding languages.
  • Predict weathering rates of various minerals and track the fate of weathering products in river and ocean systems while modeling biogeochemical interactions (e.g., carbonic acid system dynamics, air-gas exchange, nitrification, bioflocculation, etc.)
  • Use and refine existing dynamic river network models and ocean models (e.g., cGENIE, ROMS) to monitor storage of stored CO2 in rivers and oceans.
  • Leverage large datasets and apply machine learning techniques to enhance the predictive capabilities of geochemical models.
  • Collaborate with the research and engineering teams to integrate geochemical models into CREW’s technology platform.
  • Analyze and interpret model results to inform strategic decision-making and technology development.

Data analysis and integration:

  • Collect and analyze geochemical, hydrological, and environmental data to support model development and validation.
  • Integrate field and laboratory data into geochemical models to improve accuracy and reliability.
  • Work with data scientists and engineers to enhance data processing and analysis workflows.

Research and development:

  • Conduct literature reviews and stay updated on the latest advancements in geochemical modeling, carbon cycle, geochemical kinetics, and oceanography.
  • Identify and propose new modeling approaches and techniques to enhance CREW’s technology.
  • Collaborate with academic and industry partners on research projects and publications.

Documentation and reporting:

  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and scientific publications to communicate model results and findings.
  • Document modeling methodologies, assumptions, and results for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Present findings at industry conferences, meetings, and workshops.

Requirements

  • Strong background in geochemistry, computational modeling, environmental science, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in geochemical modeling and simulation using Python, MATLAB, R,  or similar coding languages.
  • Familiarity with hydrological and oceanographic modeling techniques and programs, such as ROMS, cGENIE, Geochemist’s Workbench, PHREEQC, SUMO.
  • Strong understanding of the carbon cycle, geochemical kinetics, and oceanography.
  • Experience with machine learning techniques and leveraging large datasets for predictive modeling.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing startup environment where priorities can shift on a monthly basis.

Compensation

Salary commensurate with experience. $105,000-155,000 with generous equity options plus competitive company benefits such as relocation bonus, health insurance, paid time off, and others.
