CREW for carbon removal buyers
The CREW solution
The wastewater advantage
Gigatons of CO2 move through Earth’s water cycle every year. Wastewater systems are a unique point in this cycle – channeling carbon-rich water into existing infrastructure where it is prime for removal.
Unlike other methods that require time and resource-intensive new facilities and permitting, CREW integrates into existing plants and uses existing permits for rapid, scalable carbon removal.

Immediate impact, immense potential
CREW’s “plug and play” technology removes carbon dioxide within minutes of installation, and the bicarbonate that is discharged safely stores CO2 for thousands of years.
Our approach begins with wastewater, but our process will inform how alkalinity-based carbon removal could be applied to other aqueous systems. CREW is building the launchpad to remove carbon throughout Earth’s water cycle.
Tons of CO2 contracted to be removed from atmosphere
72KVerified results
Other carbon removal methods use open systems that remove CO2 over large, hard-to-monitor areas. This means they must estimate results or forecast the amount of carbon removed over prolonged timescales.
CREW leverages wastewater’s closed system with sensor arrays that precisely quantify CO2 removed in real-time. This enables high-quality carbon removal credits with best-in-class measurement, reporting, and verification (MRV).
CREW carbon buyer partners can benefit from:
-
Closed-system measurement
Compared to traditional enhanced weathering or alkalinity enhancement, our closed-system approach deploys inlet and outlet monitoring for extremely precise MRV of carbon removal.
-
Continuous and permanent
Investment in carbon removal technology provides durable, year-round CO2 removal that can be quantified in real time today — not years from now.
-
Immediately deployable and scalable
We utilize existing wastewater infrastructure, existing permits, and abundant minerals to deploy faster and at a fraction of the cost of other CO2 removal methods.

Carbon buyer partners
In 2022, CREW’s process was verified by a review panel of 50+ scientists from Frontier, an advanced market commitment to accelerate carbon removal founded by Stripe, Alphabet, Shopify, Meta, and McKinsey, which led to a $500k pre-purchase agreement.
In 2024, CREW’s approach was further verified through the WAE protocol developed, published and reviewed by Isometric. This dovetailed with CREW securing a $32M offtake agreement.
Industrial retrofits could play an important role in scaling carbon removal. CREW Carbon’s deployment of alkaline materials at wastewater treatment plants is a great example of how we might use existing infrastructure to achieve scale — all while ensuring we hit the highest possible quality bar and remain highly certain of the impact on the atmosphere.
