About the Role

As Head of Process & Technology at CREW Carbon, you will serve as the primary technical authority on the integration of CREW’s wastewater process optimization & decarbonization solution at utilities across the country and world. This is a leadership-critical role designed for a senior expert who can interpret complex data to drive internal R&D and external operations, while influencing external utility leadership.

You will play a pivotal role in accelerating the application of CREW’s technology by translating data from laboratory studies and full-scale deployments into rigorous, defensible technical insight. You will quantify and articulate the value CREW delivers through process intensification within biological treatment systems, and you will drive the internal data collection, analysis, and modeling required to support those conclusions and enable scale across treatment facilities.

This role will work closely with CREW Carbon’s world-class Advisory team and CEO to define scientific priorities, mentor science team members, and drive CREW’s mission through innovative research and rigorous analysis. CREW is a fast-moving, technically ambitious company – this role is for someone who wants to shape the technical direction of a category-defining technology.

This position is a full-time role. Location is onsite at CREW’s Brooklyn, NY office. Remote considered only for exceptional candidates, with regular travel to Brooklyn expected.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Technical Strategy & Team: Lead the technical strategy and implementation of CREW’s solution at the intersection of biological nutrient removal (BNR) and greenhouse gas removal. Lead and mentor the technology team, fostering a culture of collaboration, learning, and excellence.
  • Expert Data Interpretation: Analyze operational data from CREW’s deployments, identify metrics to track performance, and drive actionable decisions toward operational improvements or new solutions using knowledge of biological treatment, aqueous chemistry, and mass/energy balances.
  • Experimental Oversight: Direct the Tech and Operations teams on experimental protocols and data collection requirements to rigorously validate process performance.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as the subject matter expert in client engagements to support Commercial Team by providing the scientific rigor and operational confidence required to influence decision makers, engineering staff, plant supervisors, and operators.
  • Troubleshooting & Optimization: Lead the diagnosis of complex process issues in the field and propose robust solutions that maintain treatment efficiency and CO2 removal targets.
  • Technical Documentation: Author high-level technical reports, white papers, and design standards that solidify CREW’s position as an industry leader in process intensification and optimization.
  • Product Development: Collaborate closely with CREW’s Product team, including data engineering and biogeochemical modeling, to leverage CREW’s data infrastructure, integrate experimental and operational data, and produce actionable insights.

Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (required) in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field; a Master’s or PhD degree is a bonus.
  • 10+ years of experience in wastewater process engineering, biological treatment design, or related fields.
  • Strong understanding of wastewater treatment processes, including nutrient removal, solids handling, and pH and alkalinity control.
  • Experience developing and reviewing PFDs, P&IDs, site layouts, mass balance calculations, and process unit design.
  • Exceptional technical writing skills, with the ability to translate complex process science into clear, defensible documents for utility executives, consulting engineers, and other stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with process modeling tools (BioWin, SUMO, GPS-X, ASM libraries, or equivalent).
  • Familiarity with analytical methods used in wastewater and aqueous chemistry system characterization (e.g., IC, TIC, ICP) and ability to interpret analytical data.and experience with statistical programming and modeling (e.g., Python, R, MatLab).
  • Comfortable working in a rapidly evolving work setting and able to quickly synthesize new information to proactively adjust focus and maintain high-impact results.
  • Ability to travel periodically to project sites.

Bonus Qualifications

About the role

As a Wastewater Process Engineer at CREW Carbon, you will contribute to process design, optimization, and technical implementation of CREW’s process intensification and carbon removal systems at wastewater treatment facilities. You will use your knowledge of process modeling and engineering, aqueous chemistry, and wastewater operations to design and optimize dosing systems that achieve both treatment efficiency and measurable greenhouse gas.

You will facilitate CREW’s scientific and engineering innovations into scalable, real-world systems. Working between the Tech, Ops, and Product teams, you will analyze and interpret lab and operational process data from CREW’s deployments to identify opportunities and drive action and optimizations. This will include designing and refining process flow diagrams, developing mass and energy balances, supporting demonstration and full-scale deployments, troubleshooting process performance in the field, documenting protocols, and driving customer success at partner sites.

Responsibilities

  • Develop process flow diagrams, mass and energy balances, and dosing system designs to meet project goals.
  • Coordinate with the Technology and Operations teams to translate lab results and field data into insights and actions, including technical presentations/reports, data-driven operating decisions, and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with the Technology team to address process issues and propose technical solutions to wastewater partners, which could include process modeling, technical engineering analyses, data analyses, etc.
  • Serve as a technical lead for wastewater process and process-mechanical support during partner engagements, to foster satisfaction and confidence in system performance.
  • Work with the Operations team to set process optimization and carbon removal targets.
  • Own technical documentation, training, and design input to internal teams and external partners. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, standardization of design templates, and lessons-learned captured across deployments.
  • Support new project development, including alkalinity dosing design, integration into existing facility systems, and process control strategy. 
  • Champion operational and process insights to inform project development strategy with the Commercial Team.
  • Stay current on emerging trends in wastewater treatment, process intensification, sustainability, and environmental technology.

About the role

As the Science Team Manager, you will oversee the R&D and operations of the science team. This role requires a fundamental understanding of carbonate chemistry, experience in natural and engineered systems, and a strong scientific aptitude. A successful candidate will have extensive experience leading scientific teams and providing operational oversight to ensure the delivery of high-quality data analysis, method development and experimental execution. Experience Requirements

  • PhD or masters in geochemistry, biogeochemistry, environmental sciences, chemistry, chemical engineering, or a related field.
  • 5-8+ years of proven experience managing and leading a scientific team, ideally within a field and lab research environment.
  • Strong proficiency in analytical chemistry techniques (e.g., ICP-MS, ICP-OES, IC, and TIC Analyzer) and experience with statistical programming and geochemical modeling (e.g., Python, R, MatLab, PHREEQC).
  • Extensive experience in conducting field and lab research, including designing and executing experiments, collecting samples, and performing data analysis.

CREW is seeking an experienced and well-connected water/wastewater professional who combines deep technical acumen with curiosity and commercial drive to join our team as Business Development Manager – Wastewater. You will play a key role in expanding CREW’s footprint in the wastewater industry, from identifying opportunities and building relationships with utilities and strategic partners to guiding opportunities through the business development cycle toward signed agreements and successful deployments.

This is a high-impact role for a self-starter who thrives in dynamic environments, enjoys working with wastewater utilities and is excited about the intersection of water, climate, and technology. You’ll work closely with the Commercial Strategy Lead, as well as our Engineering, Operations, and Science teams. You’ll also leverage key external partners, including water technology companies, engineering consultants, and mineral suppliers to accelerate growth. 

Your work will help to continue positioning CREW Carbon as a leader in the water technology and carbon removal industries, expanding our reach and impact. 

This position is a full-time role. Location is onsite at our office in Brooklyn, NY or remote in the Northeast or Eastern U.S., near major utilities and transportation hubs.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and qualify new opportunities with municipal wastewater utilities and industrials 
  • Own and develop the business development pipeline: site visits, discovery calls, capability presentations, site assessments, and proposal development.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (Engineering, Operations, Science) to develop business cases, leverage high-level financial models, and help build preliminary technical assessments to support decision-making
  • Build and nurture strong relationships with decision-makers at utilities, consulting engineers, and strategic partners.

Experience Requirements

  • 5-8+ years experience in business development, technical sales, or go-to-market roles. Experience with startups or technology companies is highly preferred.
  • A degree in engineering or a relevant scientific field is required or a degree in a business discipline if the candidate has extensive previous work experience in a comparable role. Degrees in environmental engineering or chemical engineering are preferred.
  • Proven ability to navigate complex sales cycles and work with municipal utilities and consulting engineers.
  • Excellent communication skills—strong written, verbal, and presentation abilities.
  • Technical aptitude and ability to communicate complex processes in simple, compelling ways.

About the role

CREW Carbon is seeking an experienced Supply Chain & Logistics Manager to source cost-effective mineral feedstock and manage comprehensive logistics.  This role is ideal for someone with deep expertise in handling loose bulk minerals who can operate independently, translate technical requirements into supplier partnerships, and build operational systems capable of growing from tens of thousands to over 100,000 tons of material annually.

This position is a full-time role, with travel expectations to mineral suppliers and wastewater partners across the US. Location will be onsite at our office in Brooklyn, or remote within the US.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and establish partnerships with mineral suppliers to procure alkaline minerals, such as calcium carbonate, including leading contract negotiations with a data-driven methodology, financial expertise, and strong technical understanding.
  • Oversee the end-to-end logistics process on a project-by-project basis, including supplier coordination and delivery contractor management, ensuring timely and efficient delivery of materials.
  • Identify opportunities for process enhancements within the supply chain and implement solutions to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures to ensure consistency and quality in supply chain operations.​
  • By working with Product Team, develop dashboards and reporting tools to provide real-time visibility into logistics operations.​
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with technology, operations, finance, and commercial teams to align supply chain strategies with overall business objectives.
  • Conduct supplier and deployment site visits to review mineral products, and oversee initial deliveries, respectively.
  • Monitor market trends to anticipate pricing fluctuations and supply availability.

Experience Requirements

  • Bachelors in supply chain management or engineering (or similar field).
  • 8+ years of experience in loose bulk supply chain and logistics roles, preferably within the minerals or manufacturing industry.
  • Proven track record of successful negotiations with large-scale commodity suppliers.
  • Strong understanding of logistics processes, including transportation (bulk road, rail, and barge), storage, and inventory management.
  • Excellent analytical, project management, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Financial acumen, including budgeting, cost control, and supply chain analytics.
  • Proficiency in logistics and supply chain management software.
