CREW Carbon Included in Whirlpool Corporation’s Carbon Removal Portfolio, Structured Through ClimeFi

CREW Carbon, Inc. announced today that CREW is included as one of four carbon removal suppliers in the Whirlpool Corporation carbon removals portfolio structured together with ClimeFi. The portfolio pairs firm offtake commitments, guaranteeing Whirlpool a steady stream of high-quality carbon removal, with standalone options that let Whirlpool reserve access to additional volume as its needs and the market evolve.

Within the portfolio, which also includes Liferaft (biochar), Gevo (bio-CCS), and InPlanet (enhanced weathering), CREW is supplying marine carbon dioxide removal through its patented wastewater and ocean alkalinity enhancement technology, developed at Yale University. The approach integrates directly into existing wastewater infrastructure, using strategically-sourced alkaline minerals to permanently remove CO2 while improving plant performance, delivering durable, measurable carbon removal without the new infrastructure, federal funding, or permitting that many carbon removal pathways require.

This agreement extends a track record CREW has built with some of the world’s most sophisticated carbon removal buyers, including Microsoft, Google, JPMorgan Chase, Stripe, Autodesk, Shopify, Workday, H&M, and McKinsey.

Whirlpool’s participation also reflects a broader shift the carbon removal market needs: new corporate buyers structuring offtake that both derisks early-stage project development and connects directly to their own operating and sustainability goals. As the leading major U.S.-based manufacturer of kitchen and laundry appliances, Whirlpool’s decision to back a diversified, durable carbon removal portfolio gives the market a meaningful signal, helping high-quality carbon removal scale at the pace the climate requires.

We’re proud to be part of Whirlpool’s carbon removal portfolio. Agreements like this show how buyers can secure durable, measurable removal while helping the broader market mature. We’re excited to keep extending what wastewater-based carbon removal can deliver, together with partners like ClimeFi.
